YellowJacket - Theme for Wordpress
Today I’m introducing YellowJacket, my new theme for Wordpress. I’ve noticed that themes with a black background are very popular downloads on the theme-viewer site, so I thought I would offer my interpretation. What better color to accent black than yellow?……none that I can think of! Aside from the colors, one of the main differences between this theme and my previous two, is the width. The other two were very wide themes - 900px to be exact. This theme has a width of 775px, which will make it look better on a 800×600 resolution screen(I guess there are a few people who still run with this resolution).
The theme is a two column, widget-ready design that will give your site an awesome look!

Looks like you’ve been staying pretty busy building themes. This is my favorite one so far and I’m definitely going to run it on one of my sites.
Clarke,
Thanks! That’s a huge compliment - especially considering your skill level in web design.

I like this theme for wordpress and im using it. But Internet explorer not shown pages correctly. Righ widget/panel is dropped down. Firefox doesnot have any problem.
mr.key,
I appreciate the feedback. I thought I had tested this out properly, but apparantly I missed something in Internet Explorer 6. Thanks for pointing it out.
You can go in your theme editor in the wp admin panel and pull up the ie6.css file. Change the following line - .sidebar{ width: 250px; }
to - .sidebar{ width: 240px; }
If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, let me know, and I’ll provide a replacement file you can download.
Thanx for quick answer. I repaired that in theme editor.
Sorry mate one more thing. for IE again. If i have widged panel longer like posts, then page footer crossing the widged
I hate IE…..
I apologize for the trouble. Go in the stylesheet.css to the very bottom where it says:
#footer{ clear: both;
change that line to:
#footer{ clear: none;
That should fix the problem. If you have any more issues, please let me know.
I’m going to release an updated version of this theme. It’s been downloaded almost 500 times, and you’re the first to bring this to my attention. There’s no telling how many people just put it aside because of the problem. I appreciate you letting me know…..
I have no troubles because im using ff
but if somebody visit my pages with internet sh*tplorer so then you can imagine that situation. btw. is it possible to make an extra version of that theme with widgeds onto both sides? you know i have lots of stuff onto widget. but at this moment it is perfect anyway.
I know exactly what you mean.
As far as making a 3 column version, I may do that in the future, but it’s not really in the works right now.

Do you have any idea how I can correct this? The Digg button at each has a different number….
Any idea how I can make my bookmarking/voting button in the sidebar appear as a vertical column instead of a continuous string.
I’m now in route to Digg and to the wp-plugin’s authors site. I think there is a forum there…
Nia,
That looks like the sociable plugin, which I believe is designed to be placed in the content area at the bottom of each post. Do you plan on having more than one post on this site? If so, then the sidebar isn’t where you want it anyway…..I’m not sure what the structure of that code is, so I won’t even attempt to tell you how to make it a list.
Great theme. I am just about to launch my new site and needed a theme that somehow matched the context of what the site is about - contributed but anonymous stories that reveal things people simply cannot tell the world for fear of serious repercussion. The site is where anyone can tell the world anything with just enough of the sensitive info altered to insulate them completely. We launch this week and needed a theme that somehow fit the vibe.
YellowJacket does this wonderfully. It creates a mood of caution, but safety to speak freely in a dark, hidden place.
Thank you!
How hard would it be to move the sidebar to the left?
Thanks. It sounds like you’ve really thought it through, and I like that! Sounds like an interesting site.
As far as moving the sidebar to the other side, it can be done. There’s a lot more to it than just getting it to the other side, however. All the margins, padding, borders, etc. would have to be adjusted accordingly as well as multiple files within the theme. Hmm.
I could do it, but would want to charge for the time spent. (it’s not really a 5 minute fix). If you want me to work that up for you, contact me.
Thanks again for using YellowJacket. I agree that it will work great with the subject matter you plan to cover.
Hey I have been looking at tons of black themes and so far this is one of the best. Only questions I have are:
1) Can I change the yellow colors into lets say a bright pink?
2) From the preview I see the text on both columns are a bit bigger than usual, can the text be edited smaller?
3) Can the default banners be edited to my customized banner?
Thanks, I’m glad you like it. As for the changes you mention, they all can be made. You’re welcome to customize it however you would like.
If you’re interested in having me make the customizations for you, you can contact me through my contact form with a list of the changes you would like, and I’ll get you a quote ASAP.

Awesome theme…
I was actually looking for something entirely different but couldn’t find it, or even remember what it had been called (orange/yellow and black theme modded from WP to phpBB) which I used to have on an old phpBB forum. Found this instead and liked it immediatley…
I do have some questions:
1)How much work would be needed to change it from fixed width centered to varible width? I’d guess if the left and right margin were given a fixed width then the middle would be varible… But having tried to fiddle with the .css I didn’t get the desired effect. : (
2)How do I change the subscribe thing to remove the huge RSS logo and use the small supplied graphic?
Neither question is that important, nevertheless awesome theme. Thanks
LN
Ah…
Ignore 1 I think its okay as I now have it. : )
And 2 has changed anyway, still working on a solution. : )
