Finishline - Theme for Wordpress

My new Wordpress theme is called Finishline, and will look familiar to some of you. I had this design on my blog the first few months. At the time, I was using the Cutline theme, which I customized to look like this. Since that time, I’ve rebuilt the theme on my own framework.

Finshline Theme for Wordpress

One very cool thing about this design, is the header image………or images I should say! First of all, this theme has random header images which is totally cool! The photos were taken by Jeff Keeton, a.k.a. Mulsanne. I used the same images before, and asked the photographer for permission to use them if I ever offered the theme for download.

It’s been exactly two months since I made the Networker theme available. It has become my most popular at this point, with over 4,000 downloads. Now obviously, I would love for Finishline to surpass it. Please check it out!

Congratulations on another theme to add to your vault! I’m sure it will be just as popular.

What is your favorite PHP book? Is it the one in your bookstore?

Thanks Clarke. The PHP book in my store is actually the only one I’ve spent any time looking through.

Now I am using this theme on my Chess Teaching site, after using Cutline for a rathe long time.

Your site looks good. The background definitely works well for the “chess” feel. I’ve bookmarked your interesting site. Chess is probably my favorite game of all time.

    Thanks

I was trying to create a theme based on Cutline myself, but then I was so lucky to find your Finishline theme.

I’m testing out this theme on my blog but so far, I haven’t seen it ‘randomize’ the images… I see the same yellow Penske ALMS car on the main page every time I view the blog. Should the images change when I refresh or do I need to do something to enable the random images? I’ve tested in Fx and IE6/7.

I’ve not made any changes to the theme, yet, but plan to use my own images in the future if I can get the random images working. I’m a race fan and have some great F1 shots from the past two years at Indy… :)

i got the code for the “random header images” from this article by Chris Pearson. The way it’s set up is that you get a different image depending on the page you’re on. For instance, a single post page should give you a different image, a different page(such as your about page) should be different, as well as archived pages. Hope that helps.

Thanks… Now that I know the image isn’t supposed to change randomly on the main page, it makes more sense. I just checked out the article and grabbed the code to add to the header. Now I’ve got the truly random images! :)
