Where Have I Been?

It’s been over a month since I posted, so what have I been up to? Well, a lot, actually. From a web perspective, I’ve been working on my BANS stores, and am having a really good month….my best since eBay started the eBay partner network for affiliates. I’ve also been on my second week of vacation this month - this past week. While off work, I’ve been working on a site for my church, which is being built on Wordpress. Aside from the web, I spent one week on vacation in Florida, and have spent a lot of time doing yard work, breaking in my new(to me) riding lawn mower.

Technorati Top 100 dumps Antbag.com

It appears Technorati decided to remove me from their top 100 popular blogs list. I’ve been expecting this ever since I first realized I had made the list. I only made the list because of the thousands of incoming links I have - from the many blogs that are using a Wordpress design that I authored. I made it all the way up to #38, and I’ve noticed today that I’m no longer there. It doesn’t really matter, although I did receive around 10-15 visits per day from being on that list.

Since Technorati has become pretty useless, now I don’t have much reason to pull up their site. ;-)

Themes and Desktops are Available Again

Some of you know that with my latest upgrade(to WP 2.5), my downloads section was broken. I’ve been using the WP-Download-Monitor plug-in by Mike Jolley. He has the plug-in upgraded for the newest version of Wordpress, so yay! I mentioned before, that the new WP Dashboard has one click plug-in updates. Well, this plugin didn’t show up in my plug-ins list once I upgraded, so I didn’t realize this was out of date. It seems it’s been updated for several weeks, and I didn’t realize it, so sorry for the trouble. I’m glad I was able to email themes to quite a few of you.

Wordpress 2.5!

I just updated this site to Wordpress 2.5, and this is a pretty exciting upgrade. First of all, the new admin panel looks fantastic. Very open and clean. Something else that I was really happy to see in this release is the one-click updates for plug-ins. I immediately updated about four plug-ins after the WP upgrade, and it took about two minutes to update all of them. Lots of cool new features.

New Blog Theme Design

I now have my new theme activated. For the design, I chose to work with the creative team at Antbag.com(a.k.a. me). This design works with the updated direction of the site that I spoke of in my previous post.

Negotiate or Always Pay Full Price

You can always pay full price for everything, and avoid any type of confrontation. However, negotiating on a price is not a confrontation. There are some things in which you will probably have to pay full price on, such as what you buy at the grocery store. But there are lots of things you could get a nice discount on if you just ask. Commit to what you will pay, and it’s amazing what you can save. Remember, “a penny saved is a penny earned”. David DeFranza wrote How Haggling Taught Me About Life, where he gives several good pointers, such as staying calm and not being afraid to walk away. Good advice.
