Technorati Top 100 dumps Antbag.com

It appears Technorati decided to remove me from their top 100 popular blogs list. I’ve been expecting this ever since I first realized I had made the list. I only made the list because of the thousands of incoming links I have – from the many blogs that are using a WordPress design that I authored. I made it all the way up to #38, and I’ve noticed today that I’m no longer there. It doesn’t really matter, although I did receive around 10-15 visits per day from being on that list.

Since Technorati has become pretty useless, now I don’t have much reason to pull up their site. ;-)

NET10, The Best Cellphone Bargain

NET10, Best Cellphone Bargain
With this post, I want to say a few words about NET10, one of companies I’m advertising for on this site. Although my site doesn’t revolve around electronics or phone services, I want to share a little information about NET10 if you aren’t familiar with what they have to offer. This is not a paid review, but it does contain affiliate links. I’ve personally been using their mobile phone service for about two years. In that two years time, I’ve been extremely satisfied with what I’ve gotten out of the deal. Needless to say, I’m a big fan.

Regarding Advertising

advertising dollars

Since the changes I recently made to this site(new design, ads, etc.), I’ve decided that the only affiliate ads that I will have on this site, are products that I use myself, and that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. It’s all too easy to throw ads up based on the amount of the payout, but I’m not going to do this…there are plenty of people who already do.

Here are my current plans. I’m going to keep spots for four 125×125 ads in the sidebar. For now, I’m going to keep two of those as affiliate ads for products that I use and would recommend. The other two spots, I will offer to you.

Some Thoughts on Affiliates and Online Income

Alright, I’ve been doing a lot of research on different strategies of turning a profit online. After reading quite a few affiliate marketing blogs, I’ve come to realize that most blogs that center around this topic, have little to offer. I think most of them make their money through affiliate program referrals, selling ebooks with re-hashed content, or they make their money on other websites. Other than that, I don’t see a blog about making money online as being profitable. The same would hold true about blogs that center around web design and blogging (like mine). The truth is, traffic from search engines is a much more profitable audience, than other bloggers.

Themes and Desktops are Available Again

Some of you know that with my latest upgrade(to WP 2.5), my downloads section was broken. I’ve been using the WP-Download-Monitor plug-in by Mike Jolley. He has the plug-in upgraded for the newest version of WordPress, so yay! I mentioned before, that the new WP Dashboard has one click plug-in updates. Well, this plugin didn’t show up in my plug-ins list once I upgraded, so I didn’t realize this was out of date. It seems it’s been updated for several weeks, and I didn’t realize it, so sorry for the trouble. I’m glad I was able to email themes to quite a few of you.
